Audiences were applauding these developments in the entertainment industry when Tupac Shakur was an infant. While Tupac Shakur was discovering how to stand up, The Academy gave a standing ovation to these movies and actors: 'The French Connection'- Directed by William Friedkin won the Best Movie Academy Award in 1971. Also this year, the Academy Award for Best Actor went to Gene Hackman for his role in 'The French Connection' and the Best Actress Award went to Jane Fonda for her role in 'Klute'.
